The area around the Schneeberg and the Ochsenkopf, called the Fichtelgebirge, is surely worth a visit, when you are either on the way from Munich to Berlin or from Frankfurt to Prague. The mountains up to 1100 Meters even allow downhill skiing.

The Schneeberg was used as a tapping station during the cold war. It was a restricted area for over thirty years and the tower, that can be seen in the background is the tapping point, which was the farest in the East.
