Golden Gate Bridge: See the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Tip Rating:
  • You can't say that you've been to San Francisco until you've seen the Golden Gate Bridge up close. One of the best places to see the bridge is from the Marin Headlands, on the north side of the bridge. This shot was taken from a place called Battery Spencer in the Marin Headlands. Other good spots are Kirby Cove and Hawk Hill.

Directions: If you're coming from San Francisco, take the second exit after you cross the bridge (after Vista Point). At the end of the off-ramp, turn left and go under the freeway, then take a right turn up Conz

  • Palace of Fine Arts and Exploratorium
This beautiful structure was built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, celebrating both the completion of the Panama Canal and the rebirth of San Francisco following the 1906 earthquake. The grassy area is a great spot for a picnic lunch. If you have time, you should also check out the Exploratorium science museum, located next door.

Twin Peaks: View the City from Twin Peaks
  • Tip Rating:
  • Twin Peaks is the highest point in San Francisco and it has one of the best views of the city at any time of the day.

Directions: To get there, go south on Market street. You will eventually start going up a hill. Take a right on Twin Peaks drive. Take this road the parking lot and enjoy the fantastic view!

SF Giants Baseball: See a Giants baseball game.
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you are in San Francisco between April and September, you should go to a Giants game at the new Pacific Bell Park. This is a great place to see a ballgame.

Alamo Square: Go to Alamo Square
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is where you can see the famous view of the colorful Victorians with the San Francisco skyline in the background. This spot is also known as 'postcard row' and 'the painted ladies'. The grassy hill is a great place to relax, have a picnic, or just take an afternoon nap!

Cable Cars/Museum: Ride a Cable Car
  • Tip Rating:
  • You won't find many locals on the cable cars but I still recommend that you take at least one ride. It's a great way to see the city. This photograph was taken on Hyde Street. You can see Alcatraz in the background.

Directions: If you're staying near Union Square, hop on the cable car at Powell & Market.
