Malaysia is made up of West Malaysia and East Malaysia. West Malaysia, also known as the Peninsular Malaysia, is what most travellers are familiar with.

East Malaysia, on the other hand, being geographically separated by the South China Sea, is in a sense more secluded and wrapped in some degree of unknown.

This is where the states of Sabah and Sarawak are found.

This is where the only two World Heritage sites in Malaysia are found -
Kinabalu Park and Mulu National Park (see also http://whc.unesco.org/heritage.htm), both of which are on the land of Borneo.
