Our town is near the mouth of the Detroit River in Essex County, Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 25km south of Detroit.

The town, across the river from the United States, was permanently established as a British military fort in 1796. During the days of the Underground Railroad, the town was often the point at which freed slaves entered Canada.

Amherstburg is home to several tourist attractions, including Fort Malden and the North American Black Historical Museum.

Moscow (Russian: Moskva) is the capital of Russia and the country's principal political, economic, financial, educational and transportation center, located on the river Moskva. The urban area constitutes about 1/10 of the Russian population, thus making it the most populous city in Europe.
It is the site of the famous Kremlin, which serves as the center of the national government.
Moscow is also well known as the site of the Saint Basil's Cathedral, with its elegant onion domes.

It would be proper to say that the town of Collingwood developed because of a need to expand land and water transportation services. Collingwood's natural harbour and the creation of the railway played major roles in the town's rapid early growth.

The province takes its name from Lake Ontario, which is thought to be derived from ontarí:io, a Huron word meaning "great lake" or possibly skanadario which means "beautiful water" in Iroquoian.
