The city is dominated by a large cathedral, and the fact that its the location of a large university. You'll find that there are a lot of young people (read students) here. The city isn't young, but because of all the students you'll feel like the city is still young.
Skåne was taken from the danes in the middle of the 1600-hundreds.
The university was buildt here in 1668 (probably because of political reasons). This has put the mark on this town. The town was strongly divided into an academic and a "civilian" part. The cathedral and the university has always been the important parts of this town.
