The village of Damvix is in the heart of an area known as the 'Venise Verte' on the banks of the River Sevre-Niortaise.
The name means 'green venice' and derives from the colour of the water in the rivers and canals of the region.
The surface of the water is covered in duck weed thus giving it the appearance of being a solid layer - don't be fooled- its very wet underneath!!!
- Pros:Quiet, excellent shops for everyday needs, central location
- Cons:Hard to leave
- In a nutshell:At the centre of life in the Marais Poitevan
