Island of huge Proportions...

This is THE island where my VT mug shot was taken, and the main reason why I love that pic is this : The shadow on the water below the jetty which looks like the beginning of a shallow coral reef...is actually a huge school of yellow-bellied fish. Huge.

So at different times of the day (or while waiting for your next dive) you can observe the "reef" moving to different areas around the wooden jetty. This was also the beautiful spot where I took my SCUBA Open Water Licence. My buddy then was also of ample proportions - needing six weights just to get him under :)

The Dayang Canal (between Pulau Dayang and Pulau Aur) itself is teeming with life just below the surface. Along with the 2 resident green turtles in the canal, you will spot White-Eye Morays (loooove their ping pong eyes), funky orange-spiked sea cucumber, baby barracuda, garfish (ikan todak) on a hunting spree, and etc.

Oh yeah, and def not forgetting the thousands of yellow-bellied fish (ikan kuning) schooling just below the Dayang jetty.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Fields of staghorn coral, abundant sea life...
Cons:Not much to offer unless you are a Scuba Diver
In a nutshell:Get certified and dive in!!
