One of my favourite trips of all time was when I went to Cuba in 2002. Cuba has just started putting more emphasis on their tourism and when I went there I was surprised to find many places and things in Havana like walking back in time. I felt extremely safe walking around in Havana during the day. I was fortunate to have a contact whom I met there and she took a couple of days to show me around. Many of the buildings in Old Havana, the old part of the city, is being declared as UNESCO world heritage sites and as a result money is being put into preservation and restoration. If you like good music, great architecture, fascinating history, then Havana is a place you have to visit! |
