Burnaby Lake at sunset
The world is like one big treasure map with so many places to discover. One of my passions is photography and over the years I've taken thousands of photos. I am thrilled to be able to find a website to post my photos and write about my travels. Having been a virtual tourist member for three years now, I've had the pleasure to meet VTers from all over the world--both in person and online. Although my time to travel has slowed down somewhat in the past two years, I intend to never stop learning about other places, its people and cultures.
Craig Bay, Parksville

Paradise in your own backyard

They say that sometimes you don't have to look very far beyond your own backyard for paradise. This summer I spent four glorious days in Parksville on Vancouver Island. After a short one and a half hour ferry and an even shorter thirty minute drive, I was at a wonderful resort named Tighnamara. It's located right on Craig Bay, which is a fabulous beach where one can walk for more than a mile when the tide is out. Because the tide goes so far out, when the tide finally comes in, the sea water is warm like bath water! Craig Bay in Parksville has become one of my favourite places. I've already booked a week at the same resort for next July!
Japanese cherry blossoms in Vancouver

My favourite time of year in Vancouver

In mid February the Japanese cherry blossoms burst into bloom in Vancouver. The blossoms don't last for long but they are one of the first signs that spring is just around the corner in our city. I love looking at the trees with the bright pink blossoms as they stand against a bright blue sunny sky.
