Paris has a new twist on the Gypsies begging for money. They walk up to you and start with this line. 'Excuse me sir do you speak English?' If you say yes, they the have a nice postcard saying they need money to feed the kids. My hotel was located not very far from Notre-Dame a popular tourist attraction. These Gypsies everyday bombarded me, asking if I spoke English while I was coming and going to my hotel. After the third day of this I was feeded up with it and replied 'No I do not speak on word of English and never will!' The gypsy was shocked and guess what? That was the last time I was asked. I supposed they remember me because they left me alone for the next three days before I left Paris. I wrote this in May 2002 in late September 2002 I visited Paris again, stay at a differnet hotel, but I walk through the park in front of Notre-Dame and saw the same gypsy girl again asking if you spoke english. A block away I saw another gypsy girl asking the same question. The funny thing was the card they where holding was exactly the same and when a police car drove by I saw them hide those cards.
