I deciced to make a United Kingdom page rather than an England page so I could include all the goodies on this island and not just one of them. This means there is a mix of sights and traditions on this page, but I will always explain which come from a certain corner of it. England is the only bit I have lived in myself, but then I have done it in different parts and they really differ! I have also travelled a lot from Glastonbury to Inverness during my stays and visits.

Whilst the Scots might not always be too fond of the English, I love them both and hope this will show. I have only been to Wales once but all those books about Llewellyn I've read has tempted me so rest assured that I will return there too.
This page is always very much under construction. I've just started with some destinations to give you a clue as to nice places to see and as we return now and again, it keeps filling up...You will find that my "Off the beaten path" tips are all about places I have been to whereas the "Things to do" are mostly places I have seen but if not, I have bundled together a whole county as a tip - this just means that it is somewhere I do not yet know in detail but know enough of to know that it is high on my wish list and has lots to see.

Useful UK websites

Here I thought I'd gather nice general sites about the entire island that I come across so I start with this:

Pros:"Beauty, sights, humour, tolerance, pubs, maritime"
Cons:"Crap trains, class wars, cold houses, children not always welcome, North-south divide"
In A Nutshell:"A goody bag of pick and mix"

LOL... I am glad even Scandinavians notice the cold houses... will never forget staying in an Edinburgh B&B over Hogmanay, heaters were running full force yet the room just would not get warm!
