For me, the trip to Kos has always been what set my priorities in life as I got to chose between it and a stay at an equestrian camp. Picked Greece, and travel has taken my time and money ever since...
I'm not sure Kos is what I would have chosen myself for my first ever trip to Greece but it was decided by my grandmother and an aunt so me and my cousin happily came along. It was in the mid 80s when Kos was a new destination on the Swedish charter circuit and therefore not known for the party hub it is today. You could for instance not go to Bodrum in Turkey without great difficulties, whereas I have understood that it is much easier today. To me, that was the most frustrating thing with the trip. Standing by the hotel pool, looking across at Turkey, ridiculously close, and knowing that I could not go...
Our time here was fine - it is a sunny island and has lots of history too since Hippocrate founded his hospital here and it has always been a centrally located island with much action. Having said that, I would really recommend that you leave Kos town and head for the smaller places on the island as then you get the peace and quiet that you certainly don't downtown today. Here is a nice view to show you what you will see if you leave the city...
Somewhere in the house I have more pictures of Kos town itself but after our move it seems I don't know where...you might see more here one day if I find them...
- Pros:typical sunny Mediterranean island
- Cons:too many drunk teenagers
- In a nutshell:Parties and sun

Hi, nice page. Hälsning Eva
I will go to Kos soon. Let's find out whether it changed a lot since the 80s.
