Goathland Travel Guide: 36 reviews and 80 photos

My first sight of Goathland was from a bus on my way to Whitby and I was hooked. What a gorgeous little village, in a dip in the moors, with sheep sleeping in the bus shelter! Little did I know that it was soon to become one of the most famous villages in Britain, thanks to the TV series "Heartbeat" about a 1950s police officer and his village. Nowadays just as famous as the TV village of "Aidensfield", it is flooded with tourists. Nevertheless, it is a village that has to be seen when crossing the North York Moors as it is simply wonderful, and I keep coming back now and then to soak up the atmosphere.

I've been trying to get here for ages.. and will. I married a Pickering... but he grew up in Oxfordshire and Kent. But... we love Yorkshire!
