"End of the road" Keld by Sjalen

Keld Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 8 photos

Well...it's not really true that it is at the end of the road as the road continues through Birk Dale to Kirby Stephen in Cumbria which you can see in the second picture, but the bus certainly goes no further and add the hostel and a couple of farms to the small hamlet down by the river Swale and that is Keld :)

People come here to hike on daytrips just around Keld or back to the villages of Muker and Gunnerside in the more central parts of Swaledale. The scenery is breathtaking and if this isn't relaxing enough for a stressed soul, I don't know what is!

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:scenic, desolate in a positive sense
  • Cons:no village shop, little public transport
  • In a nutshell:A hikers paradise
