"Tourists, tourists and mountains" Lake District National Park by Sjalen

Lake District National Park Travel Guide: 487 reviews and 1,306 photos

Mention the Lake District and images of poets by lakes in the mountains spring to mind. Yes, Wordsworth and friends were here, but these days they have been replaced by tourists. Having said that, I am a bit unfair since I have only seen the most touristy parts of this national park, Bowness, Ambleside and Kendal. I am convinced that there are lots of hidden valleys and villages tucked away somewhere for those of you with cars or with enough time to actually hike these gorgeous fells.
