Name of Shop: various
Speyer is not a shopping town but it still has the wonderfully inspiring Maximilianstrasse and its side streets, where everything is concentrated, making shopping an easy affair on the feet. My own favourite is the Osiander book shop in Wormser Strasse which only has a small section of English books if you do not read German, but which has wondeful coffee table travel books upstairs, lots of nice stationery such as Moleskin note books, and which also has a relaxing section in the middle where you can sit and read books about the Moon, health issues and New Age in a calm setting with tranquil music CDs.
But there is so much more in the area...Nürnberger Lebkuchen in beautiful tins, photo shops for VT members and of course several clothes shops. And then I haven't even mentioned the art gallery shops. All around you, there are inviting coffee and ice cream cafes where you can stop and re-fuel.
What To Buy: I came away with a wonderful "tear off calendar" with Italian grammar. Five minutes every day :)
