"Lund-by-the-Sea" Lomma by Sjalen

Lomma Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 8 photos

Lomma has the closest beach for people in inland Lund nearby and so, is a very hectic place summertime - locally, it is in fact affectionately called "beachen", a Swedish grammar form of "The beach" and known for being a meeting place full of fun. Would you believe that these pictures were taken in October and still there are plenty of guests at the camping and people swimming during what was an exceptional indian summer in Sweden. But we were without the crowds they see here in summer as Lomma is an excellent place to camp if you want to be close to Malmo/Copenhagen and yet be able to hit the beach in two minutes.

In Scania this child-friendly beach, although by no means Hawaii, is known for being good for surfing and as Lomma itself grew up around a small river estuary, there is also a harbour with a tiny fishing fleet and guest harbour here. There isn't that much in the way of restaurants and service, but this will probably change as Lomma is growing (you can already see quite new houses in the background of this picture) and if you need the buzz of cities, you are only ten minutes from Lund and twenty from Malmo by bus. Standing on the dunes, you can see Malmo's skyskraper the "Turning Torso" in the hazy distance whilst in the other direction, the looooong beach continues to a nature reserve.
