Rumskulla Travel Guide: 7 reviews and 12 photos

Rumskulla is one of the most watched parishes in the world but not many people know this. It all has to do with the Emil ("Mickel" in German) films of course since they were shot in this small village. In fact, in an even smaller village just outside it called Gibberyd, although today, even the road signs point towards "Katthult" instead as that is what visitors ask for.

I am lucky to have family all over this parish, so I grew up with this kind of scenery and lifestyle which makes watching Emil even more amusing than for most. The things happening to Emil are things that happened to Astrid herself and her friends during their Vimmerby childhood, but also to locals around the area.

Discovering Rumskulla and its countryside inevitably means a visit to the Katthult farm too and the pictures here are all from the farm. Sadly, some of it was vandalised in August 2005 as you can see in the travelogue...
