Skövde is a major hub in Västra Götaland and quite fun despite being rather small by international standards. Set in the middle of the Västgöta Plain which is one of Sweden's most important agricultural areas, the town is also famous for having a part of Volvo here, as well as a regiment. These are placed here partly because Skövde is on the main Göteborg to Stockholm main line with good access to the two biggest cities in the country. Bearing this in mind, Skövde makes a great base for anyone wanting to use public transport whilst staying in this area.

Towering behind town is Mount Billingen, a range which is not particularly high but with the surrounding plain it still manages to feel so. It is known for having uranium finds which has made it explored by all sorts of companies until it was decided not to do so anymore in Sweden. This I find great, since the countryside here is very scenic and also full of important Swedish history. Along the short road to the nearby cathedral town of Skara are loads of national heritage in the form of medieval ruins and the like.
