"Castle town" Top 5 Page for this destination Hillerød by Sjalen

Hillerød Travel Guide: 62 reviews and 173 photos

Hilleroed is famous for one thing - the absolutely stunning Frederiksborg Castle. You can read more on my Frederiksborg page with plenty of photos of one of the most fascinating castles in Scandinavia. Meanwhile, here is the town itself, or what little I have seen of it on my way to and from the castle.

Hilleroed is easily reached from Copenhagen and makes a great daytrip, but if you fancy some countryside instead of big city hub, you could base yourself here too, and visit not only Frederiksborg, but nearby Fredensborg where the royals still live, as well as the coast with its beach resorts and Helsingoer with its castle - Hilleroed is not far from any of this.

Nice small page. I love the castle. Unfortunately I haven't got enough time to visit also the town.
