Odense is primarily known to the world as the birthplace of H.C. Andersen, one of the world's greatest storytellers. But it is so much more. I have visited the city a few times now and find it a very likeable place, always with something new to discover and with friendly people, a lot less stressed than the Copenhageners. It is also very easy to reach, being on Funen island in the middle of Sealand and Jutland, most main line transport alternatives stop here. I hope this page when finished will show some of all the nice things there are to do in Denmark's third biggest city. |
| | Odense's name means Place for worshipping Odin, since the town was founded in the 900s, by people worshipping the Norse god Odin. As someone from the east coast of Sweden, I found it great fun that Odense means exactly the same as a village called Odensvi close to where I grew up. |
