Sandvig is a small village in the north west corner of Bornholm, which has grown together with the somewhat larger and more well-known Allinge but which is a nice destination in its own right. This picture shows the village centre, close to the seaside. The Sandvig-Allinge area is known for its many hotels and campsites but still feels less swamped by tourists than Svaneke, Gudhjem and Dueodde, despite being so close to Hammershus Castle. We liked it a lot here and might well go back.
The area is one of the most hilly and rocky on Bornholm and famous for its many quarries. Some still working, which you notice when biking through the Slotslyngen forest. This means a dramatic and pretty landscape. |
