  • One of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. The owner (who speaks good English) welcomed us and told us all we wanted to know about local transport and other things and we were welcomed to our room called "Tizian". All rooms are named after Venetian painters and our room had a beamed ceiling, painted window shutters and other lovely details as well as a comfortable bed, fridge and TV. Expensive as in Venice but still cheaper than the same room would have been closer to San Marco. The bathroom was maybe a bit on the small side but all was clean and good. Outside our room was the small garden where breakfast was served. Not the biggest of breakfasts but the usual Italian cracker, croissant and coffee, but it was all nice and we never expect much in the way of breakfasts travelling in Italy anyway. The hotel is on walking distance to the railway station which is what we wanted, yet in its own little cul-de-sac close to Fondamenta Cannaregio and you walk to San Marco in half an hour. The only thing you could possibly be annoyed with here is the fact that church bells start ringing at 7-8 in the mornings nearby. For us, it was less of an issue since we wanted to go exploring Venice, but if you're a nightowl you might want somewhere else.

Unique Qualities: I loved the breakfast garden and the cosy yet grand interior of our room.
