The Guy Fawkes Hotel is a small Georgian building just across a narrow lane from the St. Michael-Le-Belfrey. This church is just opposite the main doors (not used as an entrance now) of York Minster. They offer a variety of rooms and you can even rent the cottage Guy Fawkes was born in!

Unique Qualities: Its historical secret is an ancient cottage in a small courtyard behind the hotel – the birthplace of Guy Fawkes. Guy (also known as Guido) was born here, baptised at the church next door and plotted to blow up Parliament and the King in the Gunpowder Plot. He was caught, tortured and executed. And so the legend of Bonfire Night began. Even if you do not stay in the hotel, pop in for a peak!
