THE DREAM OF MENELIK

Addis Ababa means ‘New Flower’. Emperor Menelik II ordered that his new capital be built here because it was malaria free, had fertile soil, water and wood for building. Today this is a metropolis of almost 4 million, Addis has it all. The great thing is that most prices for visitors are probably the cheapest of any Capital city in the world. You can do and see it all in this fascinating and busy city.

Please come and read my tips. There is a lot to look at. If you need any information about Addis Ababa, please email me and I and my local friends will get you the information.

All the best,

DAO

Well Weight loss is not a concern to most Ethiopians...may be that is why there is no diet-staff in Addis or anywhere else in ETH

The starters are great, the soups are highly recommended and the garlic cheese bread is awesome. The portions are not extremely generous and for the low prices, you can go all the way starter, salad a good main course and your dessert.

You truly are the adventurer without fear, or just plain smart of how to handle yourself in this region. WE keep reading about it here in US and causes concern. I hope the strife stops someday for their sake.

Dear, If you ask for coke light/sugar free you will get it in Addis. You can even find sugar free RC Cola. Better luck next time. gsb1@in.com

Reading about ARDI has brought me to these pages - what a history lesson here! The steps to nowhere - the repatriation of the Lionof Judah monument and how it came about - Lucy - just a wealth of information.
