Welcome to Gonder, the one-time centre of the Ethiopia Empire and the only indigenous castle built in Africa. Emperor Fasiladas reigned from 1632-1667 and started the castle building. He, the castle and the town are often just called ‘Fasil’ by Ethiopians. Many of the walls and even buildings remain fairly intact for their age. The grounds can be seen completely in a few hours and a Guide is included with the entrance fee. This is a must see when visiting Ethiopia.

Cons:BEGGARS, FARANJI SHOUTED A FEW TIMES
