I am only here for study, finally hit the big city after years of Townsville. Much of the tourist stuff is quite glossy, but if you can get out into the region, Brisbane is fantastic. The nightlife, in the right area, is great too - definately try the Valley for more dancey kind of music. Beaches to the North are generally better and more attractive to get to than on the gold coast.
