Ettlingen is just south of Karlsruhe. It is surrounded by old walls and ditches and presents a medieval and picturesque appearance. Among the highlights are an old palace, a Protestant and two Roman Catholic churches and the buildings of a former monastery. There are also quite a few Roman remains.
The first notice of Ettlingen dates from the 8th century. It became a town in 1227 and was presented by the emperor Frederick II. to the margrave of Baden.
Nowadays Ettlingen is just a small city. Not much going on there, just nice and quiet! I work here and if I have a chance I like to show people around a little! |
| Ettlingen Glühwein meeting |
| | . . . . In December 2006 we had the International Glühwein VT meeting in Karlsruhe, and since we had quite a few international guests staying for the weekend we decided to go to the Christkindlesmarkt in Ettlingen the next day. This was a lot of fun - but you better read about fake palaces and hot love on other people's pages..... |
