Maypole at the Viktualienmarkt
The maypole: tree of may
It is an old tradition in and around Munich to plant a tree in the center of towns and villages every year. Young and brave young men climb up to prove their bravery to the girl they desire.... Isn't that romantic???
The maypole on the Viktualienmarkt is a permanent one. It is painted with the classic Bavarian colors of white and blue and figurines representing arts and crafts of the people.
