Truly an off the beaten path destination

Jan Mayen
Actually Jan Mayen is not a tourist destination at all! This island used to be militarized zone and not open to the public.

We were lucky that

a) the commander of the station gave us permission to land on the island and

b) that the weather permitted our landing!

I was so excited that we were allowed to have a look at this piece of earth that many people have not even heard of and I would like to share some of my impressions with you!

 really nice page. formally there is 8 landing every year, but it can change. the norwegian royal air forces operates a c-130 hercules, it takes supplies and scientific instruments

 This unusual destination appears as a unique country in the VT database, but I assume it belongs to Norway. Glad you enjoyed whale bone watching! Now, about that funny sign... oops; looks like I've already used up my 255 character maximum for this comment
