- almost a World Heritage Site... Schwetzingen is a small town 10 km away from both Heidelberg and Mannheim. Not too many people know it, which is an absolute shame!
Schwetzingen has a palace with a fantastic palace garden, which is more beautiful than many a better known palace throughout the country! Schwetzingen has applied to the UNESCO World Heritage organization to be included to their list and their application has been accepted! This does not mean that it already IS a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it might become one in the not so far future!
And it sure would be a right decision! |
| | Throughout the garden you will see fountains over fountains - all differents shapes and materials, such a joy to discover them! |
The premises are huge, yet walkable! Part of the park is very symmetrical, but part of it is still very naturally kept - peaceful and quiet with various wildlife! A true oasis! But be ready to discover some sort of temple or statue as soon as you walk around the next curve.... | | |
