When visiting Rome we had a B&B quite close to Vatican City. Every day we went to St. Peter's Square either to do sightseeing or to just sit there watching people or to get onto one of the buses to take us to some other place.

There is so much to see just in this rather small area, that we could have spent a whole week just there...

You might be surprised to find some "Roman" sights on this page.... This is for one reason:
I found it quite interesting to see, that some of the churches that we visited in Rome apparently belonged to the Vatican and indeed, they are extraterritorial areas! That is why I decided to include them on this page.

But since Rome and the Vatican are so close and mingled,

What a breathtaking opening photo! Never imagined that St. Peter's Square is sooo huge. Wow, you met the Pope - I am very impressed. Btw, every year the Vatican mints new coins but as you already said, they do not get in circulation.
