I never realized that Speyer was so close by and that this place had such a fascinating cathedral,
which was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981!!!
On a daytrip we went there and not only enjoyed the cathedral,
but also the rest of this really beautiful little town!
So, if you ever have a chance to go there - it definitely is worthwhile!

What a delightful little town you have presented.
Yes, there are some great places right around here that are well worth visiting.
nice page. i try to visit at least one new town in germany every year, so i'm sitting here looking for inspiration. thanks for taking yuor time to make the page.
Impressive cathedral! I would love to see it one day!
Great updates here again !
Lovely place! Haven't been there yet ;)
Fabulous little page about this well known German gem. I came across Speyer on my train trip to the famous VT Gluehwein meeting in Karlsruhe and I must admit that I didn't know that Speyer is located so close to Karlsruhe.
The cathedral looks well worth a visit!
Hi Tini, my grandma lived in Speyer and I spent some time during my childhood there. At that time instead of the cathedral I was more interested in the Rhine and the ships however.
Nice pictures of an off-the-beaten path gem. As tessy and you state, Speyer is worth a visit - epescially in Spargelzeit!!
