The second time we were on a train that eventually went to Mongolia, so we had a lot of Mongolian people on board. They had loads of merchandise with them (I somehow wondered, how they could even sleep in their compartments...) and at every stop they would sell pots and clothes and umbrellas and shoes - and the local people were very keen on doing business with them!

In each station you will find mostly older women who will sell home made food. Do try it, because it is very delicious!!!

What to buy: They will offer you warm things like pilmeni, bread, saussage, pickles, smoked fish - something different at every station! Quite a culinary adventure!
