Bicycles, cheese, canals and windmills

We visited the Netherlands twice so far: in 2003 we went to Amsterdam and Noord Holland and in 2005 we went to Harlingen in Friesland and then again to the wonderful coast of Noord Holland.

There were so many beautiful places to visit: Amsterdam for one, little cozy villages in Friesland, a special most memorable night in Harlingen, Alkmaar, the wonderful coast and the windmills of Kinderdijk!

For all of you who have not been to the Netherlands - don't miss it, it is really worthwhile!!!

Aren't they THE symbol of the Netherlands? Windmills? You will find them all over the country, especially in Noord... more travel advice

Niiiiice page -- I've been to Enkhuizen actually back in the 1970s... We drove across the enclosing dike and visited a [still-draining] polder.

Wow!! Beautiful! I love Windmills and will hopefully see one with my own eyes some day! Great info about them!! Those stacks of cheese look pretty cool! How come so many mangled bikes? I love the travelogues!!
