  • Favorite Thing: We found a couple of places that offer a great view over the city:

    - the cuppola of St. Peter's
    - Monumento Vittorio Emanuelle II
    (Piazza Venezia)
    - the cafeteria inside the Capitolian Museum
    - the Pincio
    (next to Piazza del Populo)

Each and every one of these points has been so rewarding and the views have been spectacular!

    General Tips: Churches, churches, churches

  • Favorite Thing: There are innumerable churches in Rome, some of them well known, others not. You wil be surprised at the riches you can find inside a church, that does not look very spectacular from the outside.

For a good overview, you might want to look at some of the mentioned websites, or you just go ahead and discover the churches yourself!

  • Favorite Thing: Rome is said to have more than 300 fountains - and I really do believe this. There are some that are very famous, like the Trevi Fountain or the Fountains on Piazza Navona, but even on the lesser squares you will find them....

If you want to return to Rome, don't forget to toss a coin into the Fontana di Trevi!!!

    Hills of Rome: Squares

  • Favorite Thing: Just like churches and fountains, Rome has hundreds of squares. The biggest and best known are Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia, Piazza del Populo or Piazza Espagna.

Our favourite was Campo dei Fuori, a square that has been used for a colorful market from the second half of the 19th century. Do go in the morning to enjoy the hustle and bustle there and have a cappucchino in one of the surrounding cafés!

  • Favorite Thing: While browsing the web, I found this website for the visually handicapped: Romaccessibile.it.

For the physically handicapped I found a website in Italian, that has pretty good maps and tips for wheelchair access to different areas and places: http://www.comune.roma.it/accacomune/.

Tini, how many men gave you yellow mimosas on March 8th? *winkygrin* Great accomodation tip and the pizza at Da Baffetto looks indeed tasty, although I already had a better one in Egg-Leo.

Great tips on Rome. My wife's nick name is also tini and she is also an artist. Looks like you had a great time, Karl

I had another look at your Rome page. Excuse me; Ciampino airport; not Ciampano. Ciao!
