You might ask: is that possible at all??? Well, I think so! We arrived in Venice at 9 o'clock and wandered around the back streets and the back canals of Venice and I found it to be very relaxing and peaceful! Later that day it was still possible to escape the crowds of tourists by leaving the beaten paths....

This unique tower/staircase/house is one of the most fascinating architectonic jewels in the heart of Venice! It is hidden at the interior of a small courtyard very close to Campo Manin. Without the excellent tips of sandysmith and SirRichard, I would not have looked for this hidden jewel - so thanks for that!!! It dates back to 1499 and is so special because of its very fine and original winding staircase. It shows many arcades and a parapet with little columns that follow the line of the staircase. From the dome it is possible to admire a splendid and unusual panorama of Venice: the roofs, the bell towers, the domes of Saint Mark. Well, we did it the other way around: we took this picture from the Campanile!
