While we were walking the back streets of Venice, we passed by this osteria.
An osteria typically is a family-run restaurants offering regional dishes cooked in a homestyle fashion. This place was rather a bar, but they offered little tidbits - small pieces of bread with different things on it:
tuna fish spread, fried eggplant, well, some things we could not quite identify - but the padrone encouraged us to try and so we did. And we definietly were not disappointed!
We had a glass of local wine along with it and were really sorry, when we had to leave!

Directions: Sorry, I don't know the name and the address of this osteria, but I'd suggest, that you just keep your eyes open for this kind of small wine bar that offeres some small snacks - it is so worthwhile!
