Strasbourg

Strasbourg is the gateway to the Alsace. It has a modern part and the old town, which combines half-timbered houses, classical mansions, winstub cafes out under the trees, cobblestone streets and the green canals of the River Ill. The most famous monument definitely is the sandstone cathedral.

In 1988 the old city center of Strasbourg was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site.

For more details, please have a look at my Strasbourg page.

Colmar - France
Colmar

It took years until I finally got to visit Colmar. Such a wonderful place: rather small, but with beautifully restored timber houses with multicolored roof tiles, arched bridges across the Lauch river, an impressiv Church of St. Martin, and a 13th century Dominican monastery which now houses the Unterlinden Museum. I was totally banned by Colmar and can only recommend it!

For more information, please have a look at my Colmar page.

Alsace

The Alsace to me means: geranium-filled villages with beautiful half-timbered houses, wines, Flammekuech, fleamarkets and storks. The Alsace is the area between the Rhine and the Voges mountains. It is a great area for biking and/or hiking tours or just a place to relax and enjoy!

You will be able to get along here with both French and German, because recent history had the Alsace be part of both countries - one at a time!

For more information and pictures, please have a look at my Alsace page.

Grasse - France
Grasse

Grasse is also called the "Perfume City".
We went on a tour of one of those perfume manufactures - which I definitely would recommend to you, too!

Especially after having read the book "The Perfume" by Patrick Suesskind I could relate so much more to this city!

Bretagne

Bretagne/Brittany is a rough and wild country with all sorts of weather! You can find wonderful landscape here, rocky beaches, delightful villages and towns and an incredible number of prehistoric monuments. I just loved it!

I hope to build my Bretagne page, soon, so you will be able to check on more specific information there....
