It is not gold all that glitters

Welcome to the unofficial capital of the world, which is not even the capital of the state to which it belongs ! Thanks to the perfect marketing machine that Holywood is, NYC has become an icone of contemporary times and a place that everybody perfectly knows even before setting a foot on it. The only danger is that you may have set your expectations too high, and that you get a little dissappointed when you find out that reality is (fortunately) not as glamourous as the films.

Broadway shows are not really my thing; the food scene and the night life are indeed world class, but well bellow my initial expectations. I was particularly disappointed in that the city that allegedly never sleeps seemed to me almost as terribly dead and empty at night as Brussels. In summary, my imaginary picture was far from what I discovered in my first visit, but I still love New York and I am dying to come back.

I LOVE your photos/your comments I'm originally from Long Island NY. Your title "It is not gold all that glitters" ring quite TRUE ! You're quite correct that most NYC people love to EAT at the Central Park area rather than at these restaurants !! :-)
