Ancient Romans must have had a real fascination for the old Egyptian civilisation. At least they brought many obelisks to decorate the squares of the Eternal city. This is a picture of my favorite: lying on the back of an elephant sculpted by BERNINI himself! Look for the Egyptian obelisks in Rome and you will follow a route along the uncountable and beautiful churches and squares that flourish on the banks of the Tiber. |
