This beatiful city with a troublesome history is one of France's many jewels. The capital of Alsace is a very German looking city and, in fact, it has been German for long times of its history. Nowadays it can be considered as one sign of Frenc-German reconciliation and, for this reason, it was awarded with the seat of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. It is situated in the Rhin valley close to the German border and its old town is so well preserved that it still has a little old town atmosphere. |
