It is in Lower Saxony that Germany becomes mostly flat and reaches for the North Sea. This Federal State is the second largest in Germany and has a population of eight mio.
Although the name Lower Saxony had long been used, there had not been any political union until after the Bonn's Fundamental Law. The new Federal State merged the former Kingdom of Hannover, Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, Duchy of Brunswick and Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe. |
