Here's a few tips so you'll understand what the locals are talking about :-)
A 'Yooper' is somebody from the Upper Peninsula (UP).
Since the UP and the mitten (Lower Peninsula) are connected by the Mackinac Bridge, residents of the mitten live 'under the bridge.' Therefore, Yoopers call us Trolls.
The correct way to pronounce 'Mackinac' is
Mack-a-naw. You will appear much more intelligent to Michiganders if you can correctly pronounce this word.
