Numbers is considered to be Houston's oldest and most infamous venue for live local, international and breaking alternative acts, like The Mighty Bosstones . When not showcasing live music, Numbers remains open 5 nights a week as the largest progressive video dance bar in the US with music and videos from Houston's top progressive D.J.'s. Numbers claims that there is no other venue of its size providing progressive dance music and live international acts anywhere else in the in the United States.
Numbers features 2 new state of the art digital video projectors, large video screens and several monitors scattered through out the club which project videos and remix videos edited exclusively for Numbers. There are pool tables, pinball machines, and video games throughout the club. There is a lot to look at as the clientele ranges from doctors to school kids. Dominated by a Large Capacity Dance Floor, there is also limited seating downstairs and upstairs in the quiet bar overlooking the stage and dance floor, as well as a large outdoor patio.

Nightlife Spot: Live Music

The Chitlin Circuit was the collective name given to the string of venues throughout the eastern & southern United States that were safe & acceptable for African American musicians, comedians, & other entertainers to perform at during the age of racial segregation in the United States. The El Dorado Ballroom was on the Chitlin Circuit & showcased the sounds of Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Big Mama Thornton, Jimi Hendrix, Sam “Lightin” Hopkins, & many others.

The building is no longer in use, but miraculously it has survived demolition. As a matter of fact, according to Project Shape, the building is being restored & will soon be opened to the public.
