I visited Guatemala for a month in Feb/Mar of 2002 with a friend. We took Spanish lessons for 2 weeks in Antigua, traveled to Chichicastenango, Lake Atitlan, Quetzaltenango, the Fuentes Georginas (hot springs), Monterrico, Volcano Pacaya, and the Mayan ruins at Copan, in Honduras.

It was a spectacular visit and really opened my mind to what life is like in Central America. I gained a true love and appreciation for the people, the culture, the food, the sights, smells, colors and music. I look forward to my next trip to CA!

The black sand beaches (Pacific side) are very unexpected- and largely unexplored. I like to watch the fisherman's boats tipping almost vertical fighting through the morning surf.
