The Lake of Bled

The Lake of Bled is probably the best known touristic destination of Slovenia. It is situated in the northern part of the country, just about 80km far from the capital of Ljubljana. The surface of the lake is pretty small and you can make the round of walking in a half of the day. The main attraction of Bled is the medieval castle town which is situated on the top of an steep cliff just above the lakeshore.

The islet of Bled

There is a small islet in the middle of the lake, coloquialy called "islet of love". You can visit it by renting a boat, called pletna, which cost you 10 euros tour-retour. On the top of the hill, there is a small Baroque church worth of visiting.

Another option for visiting the islet of Bled, which is more romantic but certainly more painful, is by renting the rowing boat. I suggest you to let your sweatheart rowing the boat (less painful for you) telling here that you have to take the pictures.

Very probably you have already realised the Slovenians are very proud of Bled, so it is very difficult for me to say something new. Just we would like if also the visitors feel well there.
