Stara trta, the Old Vine, of the "žametna crnina" variety, growing and bearing fruit for over 400 years now, has been entered into the famous Guinness Book of Records as the oldest noble vine in the world.
Do not miss it, is situated in the Lent area, you can reach it going downstairs from the Mestni trg.

Franciscan Church

The Franciscan Church is the biggest church in the town. It is situated in the centre of the town, just a foot from the Castle. In adjacent of the church there is a huge complex of the Franciscan Monastery.
The basilica was built at the turn of the 19th and 20th century on the place where formerly stood the Capuchin convent. This two towered, three nave basilica, built in neoromanic style, is dedicated to St. Mary Mother of Mercy. The two-storey Franciscan convent, covered in red clinker briks aswell as the basilica itself, was built in the style of an old Roman basilica.

Aloysius Church

Originaly the church belonged to the Jesuits and after abolition of the Jesuit order it was closed in 1784 and turned into military storehouse. At this time it also lost its bell tower, while the Jesuit college was turned into a military school.
The church was built in 1769 in late Baroque style. There is a beautiful rococo railings in front of the church. In 1831 it was concecrated again.
