Szekesfehervar, known by the name Alba Regia in the middle ages, is one of the most ancient towns in Hungary. The Hungarian kings were crowned and buried inside the walls of this town. Walking in the centre of Szehesfehervar you can sense the unique atmosphere of the town even more nowadays. The town was established during the proncipality of Geza the Grand Duke (972-997). The name Alba Civitas was first mentioned in the bishopric diploma of Weszprem in 1009. If you are traveling by car, from direction of Balaton (Sziofok) to Budapest, just drop into this town for a couple of hours, I am sure you won't regret. It worth to see, by all means!

White truffles (“Alba’s”) are found in Hungary but I don’t know where. Do you know if that might be in that area ? | Imbi Thu Nov 13, 2003 16:24 UTC The Baroque stone statues of St. Stephen looks great. nice page Boris |
