Homo sapiens neanderthalensis

In palaeoanthropology - the science of fossil man, his development through the geologic past, and the development of material cultures - finding-sites of fossil man in Croatia occupy a most significant place. Among them the most conspicuous place is occupied by remains of the prehistoric man of the Neanderthal type at Krapina.
Remains of the Krapina prehistoric man, from 130.000 years ago, were discovered at the close of the 19th century (1899) on Husnjak hill.

Specialists consider that Krapina is the hub from where the Neanderthals coming from the Middle-East have scattered and diverged inside Europe. Very interesting page !
